Customer Interviews No. 1

The opportunity I chose was a transportation method for college students going home for the holidays.  Trying to find a ride home from college can be stressful and expensive.  I asked 5 strangers if they thought that a service that provides reasonably priced rides would interest them at all.
The questions I asked were:
"What mode of transportation do you use when you are going home from Gainesville?"
"Would you be interested in a service that can provide you a ride with a stranger for a reasonable price?"

After talking to them, I am now unsure if the opportunity would be viable.

I learned a lot about interviewing customers from this exercise.  At first, I was very nervous to talk to 5 strangers.  However, by the fifth interview, I was very comfortable asking a stranger questions.  I also learned what kind of questions to ask someone during an interview.

  1. Hey Tyler, I thought a lot of the interviews you did were really funny, yet helpful at the time. It takes a lot of confidence to go up to strangers and it was a little bit of a challenge for me. A lot of people told me that did not want to be filmed so it was pretty tough. Even though I lot of the people said they did not need the service, I am sure that many more people at UF would be really interested in your idea. I am really glad you learned a lot and improved during this exercise. Great job!

  2. Hello Tyler. I think you did a great job with interviewing your customers because they all seemed to be in a happy mood. I came across a lot of people who just weren’t ecstatic enough to want to be interviewed. Also, I liked the honesty from some of the gentlemen in your videos and that is the kind of feedback that most of us should encounter because not everybody will be interested in that particular product or option. Since you do not feel like your opportunity is viable, then I hope you find another opportunity! Good luck! 3. Hey Tyler, those were great interviews! I had trouble finding random people that would voluntarily be on camera but it looks like you had no trouble at all. You also seemed very comfortable speaking to them which is also something that i need to work on. I think your idea about the transportation is a really good one could be profitable.
